A wide-angle PTO shaft is designed for situations where the shaft operates at an angle of more than 5°. It is also recommended to use a wide-angle PTO shaft when the angle between the tractor and the machine changes continuously. For example, a mower that is regularly raised and lowered.
From an operating angle of more than 5°, it can already be wise to use a wide-angle PTO shaft. A standard PTO shaft has square cross joints, whereas a wide-angle PTO shaft is built differently to reduce shock and vibration. A wide-angle PTO shaft can be used up to 25°. A standard PTO shaft should only be used up to 5°.
