- Version: Geartex LS is a high-performance gear oil for passenger cars for use in limited-slip differentials. It corresponds to the API customer service designation GL-5.
- Areas of application: Geartex LS was specially developed for use in passenger car limited-slip differentials. The special friction-reducing additive is the only one approved by ZF for use in their limited-slip differentials. It also meets the requirements for limited-slip differentials for ArvinMeritor axle drives. Geartex LS can also be used in equipment that requires a standard GL-5 gear oil: hypoid drive axles, steering systems, non-synchronised transmissions and transaxle steering gears. The friction behaviour of Geartex LS means that the oil is generally not suitable for use in synchromesh manual transmissions and transaxle steering gears, and should only be used in such cases if a GL 5 fluid is expressly recommended.
- Additional information: Operating temperatures above +100°C lead to a significant reduction in the service life of the fluid. The peak operating temperature should not exceed +120°C. Geartex LS is not recommended for use in wet brakes. These applications typically require products with higher friction reduction, and can generate higher temperatures than intended for Geartex LS. Use 1000 THF for this application.
