A compact range of more than 40 parts for the McCormick MTX 120. It covers trailer couplings, lighting and brake and transmission parts for the MTX series.
The back end of an MTX 120 can be set up in many ways. An automatic hitch for the tipping trailer, a piton for the heavy tanker, a ball for the bale cart. So this page starts with hitching, although engine and electrical parts are here too. In total there are more than 40 parts, from Scharmüller, Walterscheid, ROCKINGER, GRANIT and Cobo.
It starts with the drawbar frame and its rail. Into that rail slides whichever coupling you need: a drawbar with a ball, a Piton Fix, an automatic hitch or a Pick-Up hitch. For a flange hitch or another system on the rail there is an adapter plate. At the top of the frame sits the top drawbar for lighter work. Separate ball inserts are available for ball hitches, so wear does not mean replacing the whole drawbar.
A tip when changing over: make sure the new part matches the rail width of your frame, and that the locking pin drops fully into its hole after every adjustment. A half-seated pin can jump out when you brake with a loaded trailer. Check it each time you move the hitch, not only after fitting.
If you pull a trailer with steered axles, there is a forced steering part. It makes the trailer follow in corners, which saves its tyres in the yard and on headlands.
For the engine there are engine oil filters. In the driveline a torsion damper fits, the part between engine and gearbox that soaks up vibration. Lighting is covered by rear lights and indicator position lights, and there is a push button switch as well.
A worn torsion damper shows itself as a rattle at idle that disappears when you press the clutch, or as a clunk when pulling away. Since the tractor has to be split for that repair, check the rest of the clutch at the same time. When changing the oil filter, wipe a little clean oil on the rubber ring of the new filter and tighten it by hand.
Check the type plate on the MTX 120 for the type and chassis number. For hitch parts, also measure the rail width and hole pattern of your frame, since the frame may have been changed at some point. An oil filter or torsion damper is easiest to match through the number on the old part.
If you run other McCormick models alongside this one, carry on through McCormick parts. There you will find every type of the brand that has a page of its own, each with the parts that fit it.
