A complete piston and cylinder set saves you hunting for loose rings and pins. Add new big end and main bearings and the engine starts again with a clean slate. On the fuel side there are injection nozzles, plus a stop cable for when the engine no longer shuts down cleanly. Cooling is covered by radiator hoses, such as the top hose at the thermostat, and V-belts for the engine cooling drive.
A tip for the big end bearings: before you take anything apart, mark every connecting rod and its bearing cap. Each cap belongs to its own rod and must not be swapped or turned round on reassembly. Then check the bearing clearance with Plastigage before the final torque.
For the brakes there are wheel brake cylinders and repair sets for the brake cylinder. After fitting, bleed the system wheel by wheel until no more air bubbles come through.
