This page brings together more than 90 parts for the Renault Ares 640. Trailer couplings, electrics and lighting are all matched to this Ares series tractor.
Parts for a Renault Ares 640 are not always easy to track down. This page brings together more than 90 parts that fit it, from GRANIT, Cobo, Walterscheid, ROCKINGER and Scharmüller, grouped by area of the tractor.
The type plate tells you exactly which Ares you have. Some parts, a door lock for instance, are listed for a whole range of Ares tractors and sometimes for the Atles too, while the water pump also appears for John Deere. That does not mean other parts of those machines fit as well. Compare the number on the old part with the reference number shown with the product, and check left or right on mirror brackets and door locks.
At the rear there are automatic drawbars, top drawbars and flange hitches. For the PTO there are PTO shaft ends. Before ordering one, count the splines on the stub and check the speed your implements run at. A shaft end that does not sit tight on the splines will wear them out quickly. An automatic drawbar needs a little grease on its mechanism now and then. Sand and dust make a dry mechanism stiff, and the pin no longer drops in by itself.
There is a water pump supplied with its gasket, a crankshaft seal and a thrust bearing. After fitting a new water pump, flush the cooling system and refill with fresh coolant. Dirt and scale from the old coolant will otherwise attack the shaft seal of the new pump. For the starter circuit there is a cut-out switch that stops the engine from starting with a gear engaged.
A sticking door lock or a mirror that will not stay put soon gets annoying. For the cab there are door locks, telescopic mirror brackets and gas struts. For the lights you will find rear lights, combined indicator and position lights and replacement lenses, useful when only the glass is broken and the housing is still sound. At the front axle the track rod ball joints are the parts that wear. When fitting a new ball joint, check the dust boot as well. If it is split, water reaches the joint and the wear starts all over again. If a rear light keeps getting moisture inside, look at the rubber seal between lens and housing before replacing everything.
Within the Ares series, the Renault Ares 540, the Renault Ares 550 and the Renault Ares 620 each have their own page. If you own one of those, order from there. Other Renault tractors are under Renault parts.
