Most Landini 5500 tractors still at work have plenty of hours behind them, and sooner or later the clutch asks for attention. If it slips under load or squeals when you press the pedal, the thrust bearings, double clutches and complete clutch kits on this page are where to start. For the clutch you will find thrust bearings, double clutch pressure assemblies and clutch kits for a flat flywheel. If the tractor is split anyway, it makes sense to order the spacers and seals that belong to that area at the same time.
A rule many mechanics stick to: once the tractor is split, the thrust bearing always gets replaced, even if the old one still turns quietly. Look at the flywheel face as well. Blue patches or fine hairline cracks mean it has been hot, and a new plate on a poor flywheel will not last. With a double clutch, check that the PTO plate moves freely before everything goes back together.
For the engine itself there are crankshafts, oil pressure switches and V-belts. The cooling side covers radiators and radiator hoses, and the fuel side covers feed pumps. After fitting a new feed pump the fuel system needs bleeding. Work the hand primer until fuel without bubbles comes out at the bleed screw on the filter, and only then crank the engine. On the exhaust side there are silencers and exhaust gaskets.
The driver is not forgotten either. There are seats from the Compacto line with mechanical suspension and air suspended tractor seats with fabric covers. Anyone who spends the day on a 5500 notices a good seat quickly, especially on loader work or rough ground.
If the oil pressure light comes on with the engine warm and idling, check the oil level first and measure the pressure with a separate gauge before you suspect the engine. An oil pressure switch can start switching too early after many years, and then a new switch is a small job. Screw it in with a proper socket rather than pliers, because the body distorts easily.
Read the type plate first so you know for certain you have a 5500. For clutch parts and gaskets, the reference number on the old part is the quickest route to the right choice. If in doubt, measure the plate or bearing and compare it with the details shown for the product.
