Cracked lenses, a dead tail light and a mirror that droops on every bump. On an Explorer 65 that has spent years outdoors, the lighting usually asks for attention first. More than 100 Same Explorer 65 parts are collected on this page, and they go beyond lamps into seats, hitch components and engine work.
To get the tractor road legal again there are headlights, rear lights, indicator and position lights and a number plate light. When only the lens is broken, a separate lamp glass saves buying the whole unit. Work lamps, including a round one with its own switch, and unheated mirrors that clamp to a mirror rod complete the picture.
If a lamp keeps failing, the fault is often not in the lamp at all. A poor earth or a corroded plug causes flicker and blown bulbs. Clean the contacts, add a little contact spray and make sure the earth lead is tight on the frame. Only then will a new rear light or headlight give lasting results. With mirrors, measure the rod before ordering, and straighten a bent rod first or the new mirror will shake on every bump.
Read the type and serial number off the type plate before you order. With lamps and alternators a different bracket or plug is often the only thing separating a part that fits from one that does not. Keep the old part next to you as well. Lenses and housings often have a number moulded in, and alternators usually carry a plate with a reference number. Compare plug shape and mounting points too.
Head gasket advice: the sealing faces must be spotless. Scrape off old gasket material carefully without scoring the surface, check the head for distortion with a straight edge and tighten the head bolts in the sequence and to the torque the manufacturer specifies.
