Much of what is here keeps the tractor visible on the road. There are front indicators, including LED versions, marker lights, rear lights in standard and LED form, headlights and reflectors. For the trailer brakes there is a trailer control valve and Wabco connector heads. On the engine side the parts are sensors: a temperature sensor for the diesel particulate filter and a differential pressure sensor. When the tractor flags a particulate filter fault, look at the two thin hoses running to the differential pressure sensor before anything else. A split hose, one that has slipped off, or one blocked by condensation triggers the same fault code as a failed sensor. Blow the hoses through, check the connections and make sure they are not resting against hot components. Only replace the sensor once all of that checks out.
When the trailer brakes slowly or unevenly, the valve on the tractor is not always to blame. Look for moisture in the air system and at the connector heads first, as water and dirt make any valve stick. Drain the tanks, check the seals in the heads and only then test the trailer control valve itself. Mark the lines before removal so each one goes back where it came from.
