On a two-line air brake system, the red coupling head is the supply line and the yellow one is the control line. Never swap them when hitching up. If you hear air hissing with a trailer connected, check the rubber seal inside the coupling head first. It hardens and cracks with age, and a leaking head costs air and keeps the compressor working. Close the dust covers whenever nothing is connected, so dirt and water stay out of the lines.

The temperature sensor deserves a quick test before you order. If the temperature gauge shows odd readings, check the plug and wiring first. Then measure the resistance of the sensor with a multimeter on a cold and on a warm engine. If it does not change, the sensor is faulty. Always fit a new sealing ring when screwing it in, and catch the coolant that runs out. A mirror that shakes on the road is often just loose on its arm, so tighten the clamp before you replace the mirror. Worn rubber mats lift out in a minute and are just as quick to swap.
