The gas strut that holds the windscreen frame open loses pressure over the years, until the screen creeps shut or swings closed in a gust. Fit the new strut with the piston rod pointing down. That keeps the seal inside the cylinder bathed in oil, so the strut holds its pressure for longer. Have someone hold the frame while you swap it, because without a strut it drops shut hard.
