The Fendt Farmer 312 (Typ 312) is the successor to the Farmer 312 LSA and was produced between 1993 and 2000. It rounds off the Farmer 300 series as the most powerful model in that lineup and was only available with four-wheel drive. At 125 hp, the 312 came close to the Favorit series in terms of output, but the difference came down to the stronger gearbox of the Favorit and the price that came with it.
Under the hood sits an MWM TD226.B6, a water-cooled six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with direct injection. Displacement is 6.2 liters, with a bore of 105 mm and a stroke of 120 mm. Rated power is 125 hp (93.2 kW) at 2,400 rpm. Maximum torque is 480 Nm, reached at 1,500 rpm. The engine features an oil cooler, pressure-fed lubrication and a thermostatically controlled dual-circuit cooling system.
The gearbox is a fully synchronized Fendt EHS reverse power shift transmission with overdrive and electro-hydraulic pre-selection, offering 21 forward and 21 reverse speeds. Top speed is 40 km/h. The clutch is a dry-type unit from Fichtel & Sachs (type GTF 330 N), combined with a Voith fluid coupling (type 390 TD-F4) and a multi-disc clutch for the front and rear PTO shafts.
The front axle is a load-shifting ZF oscillating axle type APL 700 F6 with automatic differential lock ("Locomatik"), operated via a rotary switch with four positions.
Wheelbase is 2,589 mm. Unladen weight is 5,350 kg, with a maximum permitted total weight of 8,000 kg. Standard tyre sizes are 420/70R28 front and 520/70R38 rear. The turning circle with four-wheel drive is approximately 10.6 metres.
The electrical system runs on 12 volts with a 95-amp alternator. Battery capacity is 135 Ah. The cab comes standard with air conditioning. The sound-insulated platform cab includes an air-suspended seat, digital instruments, a three-speed heating fan, interior lighting, windscreen washers, a height and tilt-adjustable steering wheel, opening side, front and rear windows, and a roof hatch.
The fuel tank holds 160 litres (42.3 gallons). Available options included a front loader, front linkage, front PTO, creep gear, air brake system, additional working lights and an automatic drawbar hitch.
