Fendt Favorit 511 (Typ 511) specifications

The Fendt Favorit 511 C carries the internal type designation FWA 511 and was built from 1994 to 1999. Just one year after the introduction of the Favorit 500C series in 1993, Fendt expanded the range with the 511C. It is available exclusively with four-wheel drive. A notable technical point is that the 511C, despite belonging to the same series as the 512C, has a naturally aspirated engine without a turbocharger. The 512C and all larger models in the 500C series do have a turbocharger. The 511C is therefore the most powerful model in the series without a turbocharger.

Engine

The Favorit 511 C is powered by an MWM D 226.B-6, a water-cooled six-cylinder four-stroke inline diesel engine without turbocharger and with direct injection, overhead valves, pressure circulation lubrication, a Bosch VE injection pump with automatic advance unit, multi-hole injectors, piston crown cooling, wet cylinder liners and thermostatically controlled dual-circuit cooling. The Bosch VE injection pump delivers a maximum injection pressure of 850 bar, which keeps fuel consumption low even without a turbocharger.

Bore is 105 mm, stroke 120 mm, displacement 6,234 cc. Rated power is 85.8 kW (115 hp) at 2,300 rpm. Maximum torque is 456 Nm at 1,500 rpm. The constant power range runs from 1,900 to 2,400 rpm. Engine oil changes are only required after 500 operating hours.

Transmission and travel speed

The 511C has the Turboshift gearbox with 44 forward and 44 reverse gears, consisting of six synchronised gears combined with four power-shift steps per range. The reversing unit is electrohydraulically pre-selectable. Standard top speed is 40 km/h, with a 50 km/h version available on request. The drive clutch works in combination with a Voith fluid coupling acting as the torque converter.

Hydraulics and lift system

The hydraulic load-sensing axial piston pump delivers 102 litres per minute. The rear three-point hitch is category III/II with electronic lift control (EHR) and draft force measurement via load pin on the lower links. Maximum lift capacity is 6,457 kg. The electrohydraulic differential lock acts on both front and rear axles. Up to four double-acting control valves are available.

Power take-off

The PTO is switchable between 540, 750, 1,000 and 1,400 rpm, independently electrohydraulically driven. An optional front PTO at 1,000 rpm is available.

Brakes, drive and steering

The brakes are hydraulic disc brakes. The portal drive on the rear axle reduces the forces in the drivetrain and creates space for larger rear tyres. The electrohydraulic differential lock acts on front and rear axles. An optional compressed air braking system was available. Steering is hydrostatically assisted. Optional front axle suspension and cab suspension were available.

Dimensions and weight

  • Wheelbase: 258 cm
  • Unladen weight: 5,299 kg
  • Permissible gross weight: 9,500 kg
  • Fuel tank: 210 litres

Standard tyre sizes are 420/70R24 at the front and 480/70R38 at the rear. The cab is fitted with heating as standard; air conditioning is optional.

Difference from the 510C and the 512C

The 510C (105 hp) is the model directly below the 511C and has a four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine. The 511C is the smallest six-cylinder model in the 500C series. The 512C (125 hp) directly above the 511C uses the same six-cylinder engine block family but with a turbocharger, which accounts for the difference in power and torque. Parts from the 511C and 512C overlap partially but not completely, particularly where engine components are concerned. The 3 cm difference in wheelbase compared to the 512C results from the slightly smaller standard tyre dimensions of the 511C.
