Fendt Favorit 515 (Typ 515) specifications

The Fendt Favorit 515 C carries the internal type designation FWA 515 and was built from 1995 to 1999. It is the most powerful model in the Favorit 500C series, which was introduced in autumn 1993 with the 512C and 514C as the largest models. As demand for more power persisted, Fendt added the 515C to the range in autumn 1995. The 515C is available exclusively with four-wheel drive. A distinctive feature of the 500C series is the portal drive on the rear axle, where the final drive runs via portal shafts rather than a rigid connection. This reduces the load on the drivetrain and creates space for larger rear tyres.

Transmission and travel speed

The 515C is fitted with the Turboshift gearbox with 44 forward and 44 reverse gears. The gearbox combines six synchronised gears with four power-shift steps per range, supplemented by a pre-selectable electrohydraulic reversing unit. Top speed is 50 km/h, but can be electronically limited to 40 km/h. The drive clutch is a hydraulically operated self-adjusting dry clutch type Fichtel & Sachs, combined with a Voith fluid coupling acting as the torque converter.

Engine

The Favorit 515 C is powered by an MWM TD 226.B-6, a water-cooled six-cylinder four-stroke turbodiesel engine with direct injection, overhead valves, a Bosch VE injection pump with automatic advance unit, dry air filter with pre-cleaner, pressure circulation lubrication, wet cylinder liners, temperature-controlled viscous fan, piston crown cooling and thermostatically controlled dual-circuit cooling. Displacement is 6,234 cc. Maximum injection pressure is 850 bar, which is higher than on earlier models in the series and contributes to improved torque characteristics at low engine speeds.

Rated power is 110 kW (150 hp) at 2,300 rpm. Maximum torque is 574 Nm at 1,300 rpm. The constant power range runs from 1,900 to 2,400 rpm. Engine oil changes are only required after 500 operating hours.

Hydraulics and lift system

The hydraulics operate with a load-sensing axial piston pump. The rear three-point hitch is fitted with electronic lift control (EHR) including vibration damping, draft, position and continuously variable mixed control. Up to four double-acting control valves are available. An optional front linkage and load sensing with Power Beyond are available.

Power take-off

The PTO is switchable between 540, 540E, 1,000 and 1,000E rpm. An optional front PTO is available.

Brakes, front axle and steering

The brakes are hydraulically operated. An optional single or dual-circuit compressed air braking system was available. The front axle is optionally available with hydropneumatic suspension. Steering is hydrostatically assisted.

Dimensions, weight and tyres

  • Permissible gross weight: 9,500 kg
  • Fuel tank: enlarged and repositioned to the outside following the 1995 update

Standard tyre sizes are 540/65R28 at the front and 650/65R38 at the rear. Larger tyre dimensions were possible thanks to the portal drive.

Difference from the 514C and position in the series

The 514C (140 hp) was the largest model in the 500C series at its introduction in 1993. The 515C added 10 hp and introduced a higher maximum injection pressure of 850 bar, which improves torque characteristics at low engine speeds. Technically the two models are closely related, sharing the same engine family, the same Turboshift gearbox and the same cab. The 515C is recognisable by the exhaust pipe positioned beside the cab, which was introduced with the 1995 update.
