Looking for parts for your Fendt Favorit 612 (Typ 283) tractor? In this category, you'll find everything you need for the maintenance and repair of your vehicle.
The Fendt Favorit 612 LS carries the internal type designation FWA 283 and was built from 1979 to 1983. It is the LS successor to the Favorit 612 SL and belongs to the Favorit 600 series. The 612 LS differs from most other models in the 600 series in that it was delivered exclusively with rear-wheel drive; the four-wheel drive version falls under the separate type designation T 383 (612 LSA). Within the series, the type designation FWA 283 also applies to the SL version, which means that when sourcing parts it is important to know the chassis number in order to identify the exact model.
The Favorit 612 LS is fitted with an MWM D 226-6, a water-cooled six-cylinder four-stroke inline diesel engine without turbocharger and with direct injection. The engine features overhead valves, pressure circulation lubrication, a gear-driven camshaft, a seven-bearing crankshaft, an inline injection pump, a multi-hole injector, a dry air filter with pre-cleaner, dry cylinder liners and thermostatically controlled dual-circuit cooling with a flat-fin radiator.
Bore is 105 mm, stroke 120 mm, displacement 6,240 cc. Power output is 120 hp at 2,400 rpm. The governed speed range runs from 650 to 2,580 rpm. Maximum injection pressure is 180 bar. Torque rise above rated power is 15 percent, which is typical for a naturally aspirated engine of this type.
The 612 LS has a helical-cut ZF synchronised fine-step gearbox type T 3450 with side-mounted gear selection. Top speed is 30 km/h in the basic version. In the 40 km/h version, the six gears in the fast range are as follows: first gear 3.85 km/h, second 6.07 km/h, third 9.48 km/h, fourth 14.43 km/h, fifth 22.42 km/h and sixth 38.14 km/h. In the slow range, the gears run from 3.11 to 30.78 km/h. The drive clutch is a hydraulically operated, self-adjusting dry clutch. The torque converter is a hydraulic fluid coupling of the Voith type, absorbing load peaks and protecting the drivetrain.
The PTO is switchable as standard between 750 and 1,000 rpm. Unlike many other models in the 600 series, 540 rpm on the 612 LS is an optional package rather than standard equipment. An optional power-shift front PTO with direct drive is available.
The hydraulic pump delivers 45 litres per minute. Maximum lift capacity of the rear three-point hitch is 5,801 kg. The permissible front axle load is 4,000 kg and the rear axle load 6,000 kg.
The braking system consists of hydraulically operated full disc brakes type 270 x 80 on the rear wheels, usable as individual wheel brakes. On four-wheel drive versions, a front wheel disc brake acts on the drive; when the individual wheel brake is applied, the front wheel brake disengages automatically. The parking brake is mechanically operated as an internal shoe brake. Steering is hydrostatically assisted.
Standard tyre sizes are 14.9-26 at the front and 18.4R38 at the rear.
The difference between Typ 283 and Typ 383 comes up regularly when sourcing parts and when purchasing. The Typ 283 has a naturally aspirated engine without turbocharger producing 120 hp, with a standard PTO speed of 750/1,000 rpm. The Typ 383 has a turbocharged engine producing 135 or 145 hp, a standard PTO speed of 540/1,000 rpm, four-wheel drive as standard and a higher hydraulic pump output. The gearbox on both types is a ZF T 3450, but the internal configuration differs between generations. Parts are partially interchangeable but not always directly so, which is worth bearing in mind during repairs.
