Fendt Favorit 714 Vario (Typ 714) specs

The Fendt Favorit 714 Vario is the entry-level model of the 700 Vario series, which Fendt introduced in 1998. The tractor was produced until 2003 in its first version, after which successor generations followed with modified engines and transmissions. A total of 4,008 units were built of the first version (chassis number T 714.210). In terms of power class, the 714 sits in the mid-range segment, suitable for a wide variety of tasks on arable and livestock farms.

Engine and power

The first generation (1998-2003) is powered by a Deutz BF6M 2013C. This is a water-cooled six-cylinder four-stroke engine with direct injection, four-valve technology and a displacement of 5,703 cc. The engine output is 140 hp (rated power), with a boost up to 148 hp. Maximum torque is 632 Nm at 1,400 rpm. From 2003 onwards this was increased to 672 Nm at 1,450 rpm. The engine features a turbocharger with intercooling, pressure-circulation lubrication, a dry air filter with pre-cleaner and a dual-circuit cooling system with thermostat control. The fuel tank holds 300 litres.

The 2006 to 2011 generation switched to the Deutz TCD 2012 L06 4V with a displacement of 6,057 cc and common rail injection. Power output increased to between 130 and 151 hp. From 2011, the Deutz TCD 2012 L04 4V with 6,056 cc and a power range of 128 to 150 hp was introduced.

Transmission

The Favorit 714 Vario is equipped with the Fendt Vario transmission system, type ML 130. This is a continuously variable, power-split drive transmission with two pre-selectable speed ranges. The power flow is split via a planetary gear set into a mechanical and a hydrostatic branch, resulting in a travel speed range of 0.02 to a maximum of 50 km/h without any gear changes. From the post-2011 generation onwards, the ML 140 type was introduced.

Hydraulics and lift capacity

The hydraulics operate with a load-sensing pump. The pump flow rate is 110 litres per minute in the base configuration. The rear three-point hitch lift capacity is 8,599 kg. The three-point system meets category II and III. The rear PTO runs at 540, 540E, 1,000 and 1,000E rpm. The hydraulic couplings can be connected under pressure (UDK), and the double-sided pressure-connect (DUDK) design protects against contamination through self-sealing valves.

The front linkage is equipped with a double-acting front lift valve, allowing part of the weight of the front-mounted implement to be transferred to the front axle. This is particularly useful when using a front mower or snow plough.

Dimensions and weights

  • Length: 4.65 m
  • Width: 2.55 m
  • Height: 2.96 m
  • Wheelbase: 2.83 m
  • Unladen weight: 6,180 to 6,550 kg depending on specification
  • Permissible gross vehicle weight: 14,000 kg
  • Payload: 6,020 kg

Standard front tyre size is 480/70 R28, rear tyres are 580/70 R38.

Differences between generations

A question that comes up regularly is what distinguishes the different model years of the 714 Vario from one another. The first series (1998-2003) features the Deutz BF6M 2013C with unit injector fuel delivery and the ML 130 transmission. The 2006-2011 series uses common rail injection and meets stricter emissions standards. Generations after 2011 additionally received EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) and EDC engine management. The Profi version introduced in 2015 has dimensions of 5.24 x 2.55 x 3.05 m and weighs 7,735 kg, due in part to more extensive standard equipment and a heavier frame.

Cab and equipment

The cab comes standard with air conditioning, an air-suspended driver's seat and a multifunction control lever. The Varioterminal provides an overview of transmission settings, hydraulic functions and engine data. In later generations the VisioPlus cab became standard, with improved visibility to the front and all around. The headland management system (Variotronic) automatically controls the transmission, PTO and hydraulics when turning at the headland.
