The Fendt GT 220 is a classic implement carrier from the early GT series by Fendt and was built in the late 1950s through the early 1960s. This model succeeded the earlier Fendt F12 GT and was developed to provide farmers with more power and lifting capacity for a wide range of agricultural tasks. The Fendt GT 220 was produced at the Fendt factory in Marktoberdorf, Germany, and is known for its characteristic central tube frame with pendulum construction. This design provided excellent visibility of mounted implements and made the machine highly versatile for agricultural use.
The GT 220 is equipped with an air-cooled MWM AKD 311 Z 2-cylinder diesel engine with direct injection and a displacement of 1,400 cc. This engine delivers approximately 19 hp, which was a significant improvement over its predecessor at the time. From 1963 onward, the final models were delivered as the Fendt F220/1 GT, fitted with an updated 8/4 gearbox to create more technical consistency with the later GT 225. From the factory, the Fendt GT 220 was supplied in the well-known Fendt green paintwork with red wheels, as was common for Fendt models during this period.
