Three filters and a seat that feels right again. For many mechanics, that is what keeping a Jungheinrich DFG 316 running comes down to. This page holds more than 40 parts for this diesel forklift, from GRAMMER, GRANIT, HELLA, SACEX and Perkins.
There is an engine oil filter, an air filter and fuel filters. The inline fuel filter with two straight connections has a flow direction, marked by an arrow on the housing that should point towards the engine. Fit it the wrong way round and the engine runs short of fuel, idles roughly or stalls.
After changing the fuel filter there will be air in the system. Prime the line or bleed it following the procedure for the truck before cranking for long, which also spares the starter and battery. Replace a dirty air filter rather than knocking it clean, since tapping it out easily damages the paper and lets dust into the engine.
When changing the engine oil filter, catch the old oil in a tray and let the used filter drain before it goes into hazardous waste. On the air filter housing, look at the dust valve at the bottom if one is fitted. If it is blocked or the rubber has hardened, dust stays trapped in the housing. Writing the change date on each filter with a marker means you can see at the next service how long it has been in. The front indicator is worth a quick function test too, since people around the truck rely on it when you manoeuvre.
The DFG 316 seat is made up of parts you can change separately. There are back cushions and seat cushions, such as a black PVC seat cushion for upper part 20 and 90, plus tilt adjustable right hand armrests and an adjustable back extension. Fitting a fresh cushion on a sound frame is quicker than removing the complete seat.
Check the data plate to confirm it is a DFG 316. For filters, the number on the old filter is the quickest guide. For cushions and armrests, go by the seat type on the label beneath the seat. Every other truck from this maker has its own page as well, collected under Jungheinrich parts.
