Under the bonnet there are thermostats, a heating flange that helps with cold starts, alternators, an aircon compressor and a vented tank cap. Ball joints for the steering are listed as well. When you replace a thermostat, fit a new seal with it and bleed the cooling system afterwards. An air pocket trapped near the thermostat housing can make the gauge read normal while the engine is running hot.
For trailer braking you get Wabco connector heads and an air dryer cartridge. The cartridge is a service item. Once it is saturated, moisture passes into lines and valves, freezing in winter and causing corrosion the rest of the year. Drain the air tanks when you change it and you will see straight away how much water the system has collected.
The heating flange is there for cold starts. If the tractor turns over slowly on a frosty morning and puffs white smoke, check that the flange is getting current and actually heats up before blaming the starter or battery. With an alternator that stops charging, look at the belt and the charging cable before replacing the unit itself. On the aircon compressor, the magnetic clutch is a frequent weak point, so check whether it engages when the system is switched on.
Red reflectors and indicator lights take a beating in the field from branches, maize stubble or a tight turn next to the silage clamp. A missing reflector is the first thing anyone notices at a roadside check, so look them over at every service.
