Part of the 6030 series, the John Deere 6830 is covered here by more than 650 matching parts, including trailer couplings, lighting and electrics.
More than 650 parts fit the John Deere 6830, covering the engine, the electrics, the cab and a good deal of hitch and trailer equipment. If your 6830 regularly pulls trailers, the hitch equipment and the lighting will be the parts of this page you come back to, so both are described in some detail.
At the rear there are ball type drawbars, a standard drawbar frame in John Deere green and a forced steering system for both sides, which steers a trailer so that it follows the track of the tractor through a bend. Bushes for the pivot points complete the set. Walterscheid and Scharmüller are among the brands for this part of the tractor.
Worth doing at every major service: check the locking pin of the drawbar. A step or oval wear on the pin means it is time to replace it, and doing so early protects the bore of the hitch itself.
For the engine there are O-rings, including those for the oil pump, gaskets such as the one for the exhaust gas recirculation valve, seals and thermostats. There is also an engine oil pressure sensor. If the oil pressure light comes on, connect a separate mechanical gauge and check the real pressure first. When that reading is fine, the sensor is to blame. When it is low, stop the engine straight away, because then the problem lies deeper.
On the electrical side you will find alternators, work lamps, headlights and micro relays. For the cab there are gas struts, seals for the door hinges and pull handles, and a tractor seat. Brands include GRANIT, Sauermann, HELLA, Walterscheid and Scharmüller.
Before ordering, compare the reference number on the old part with the details shown with the product. That matters with gaskets and O-rings in particular, which look almost the same at first glance. The type plate on the tractor confirms that you really have a 6830 in front of you.
The 6830 belongs to the John Deere 6030 series. The other models in that series have their own pages with the parts that suit them:
