Check the identification plate before anything else. If it reads Typ 718, this page is for your tractor: it lists only the parts intended for the Fendt 818 Vario in that version, more than 600 of them. A different Typ number means you are better served by Fendt 818 Vario (Typ 729), or by the general Fendt 818 Vario page, which covers both versions together.
Wear starts with the small items. There are seals, including the seal for the tank sensor, and discs and bushes for hinges and pivot points. Pins keep the lower links and the hitch where they belong, and complete Scharmüller drawbars are here too, such as the K80 with its locking pin.

When the rear linkage jerks, hangs or will not lower to its set position, the linkage potentiometer is a common cause. It reports the position of the lift arms to the control unit. Check the plug and wiring first, since a corroded contact gives exactly the same symptoms. If the potentiometer itself is worn, lower the arms fully before removing it and note the position of the driver lever. After fitting, the linkage control normally has to relearn its end positions. Do that before you hitch up a heavy implement again.

If the starter motor only clicks or turns slowly, measure the battery voltage first and check the heavy cables and the earth connection. A poor contact gives exactly those symptoms. With a drawbar, pay attention to the rail width and the thickness of the locking pin, because two drawbars that look the same can differ there.
