Towing with a Claas Ares 826 means the trailer coupling has to be right. More than 40 parts are listed for this Ares series model, so pick the one that fits.
This page covers the parts that see hard use on a Claas Ares 826: the hitch at the back, the seat and the mirrors. There are more than 40 of them, supplied by Scharmüller, ROCKINGER, Walterscheid, GRAMMER and PROBOSS.
The Ares 826 can be fitted with several coupling types, and the parts for each are here. Rail drawbars, top drawbars and automatic hitches cover conventional trailers. Ball hitches and support plates are there for ball coupling, and the Piton Fix system suits heavy trailers. A height adjustable adapter plate lets you match the coupling height to the trailer drawbar, and an automatic flange hitch is listed too. If your trailer uses forced steering, the matching components are available.
Keep an eye on the coupling pin and the jaw. Both wear slowly, and excess play causes knocks when pulling away and braking while also wearing the trailer eye faster. Measure the pin from time to time and replace it before it wears oval.
Trailers with forced steering use a second ball linkage for the steering rod. Check that ball for play and grease it just as often as the main coupling.
Long days in the cab are hard on your back if the seat has collapsed. You will find air suspended tractor seats here, as well as a separate cushion for the Claas Maximo seat, so you only replace what is worn. Before fitting an air seat, check that the supply cable and compressor connection at the floor are in good order.
Complete mirror sets, single mirrors and replacement glass are all available, so a cracked mirror does not always mean buying the whole arm. A mirror that shakes over every bump is little help when reversing up to a trailer, so check the clamp on the arm as well, because new glass will not stay put on a loose mount.
Confirm the model on the identification plate first. For drawbars and hitches the rail width decides the fit, so measure between the guides on the tractor and compare it with the product information. For a seat, the number on the label under the cushion is the best reference.
Each of these sister models has its own page listing the parts for that specific tractor:
