A focused selection for the Claas Arion 440 from the Arion series: more than 40 matching parts, including trailer couplings. Handy when you know what you need.
The rear of a Claas Arion 440 takes the strain of every tipper, bale cart and slurry tanker it pulls. That is where the more than 40 parts on this page come in. They cover drawbars and drawbar frames, top drawbars, Piton Fix hitches with a matching piton beam, ball hitches, automatic hitches and a flange hitch, plus adapter plates, a ball insert, hydraulic lifting struts and components for forced steering. The makers are hitch specialists Scharmüller, Walterscheid and ROCKINGER, together with GRANIT.
An automatic hitch suits farms that swap between trailers with a drawbar eye and want to couple up while reversing, without climbing down from the cab. A ball hitch gives heavy tandem trailers and push-off trailers with a ball socket a steadier connection with less slack. A Piton Fix pin handles high nose weights from big tippers. The height-adjustable adapter plate lets you set a ball or jaw so that the trailer drawbar runs as level as possible, which keeps braking and tipping behaviour predictable. If you pull equipment with steered axles, the forced steering parts pass the steering movement of the tractor on to the trailer.
With hitches, fit comes down to the rail that the drawbar slides in and the locking pin that holds it at the chosen height. Before ordering, measure the rail width on the existing drawbar frame and check the diameter of the locking pin. Ball hitches and automatic hitches from Walterscheid or Scharmüller usually carry a stamped part number or a small plate, and that reference number is the quickest route to a matching replacement. The type plate on the tractor itself confirms that you are dealing with an Arion 440 and not a neighbouring model in the range.
A workshop tip for the automatic hitch: after a wet spell, clean out the jaw and the locking mechanism and give the coupling pin a thin coat of grease. If the pin does not drop fully home, the indicator pin will show it, and the trailer is not safely coupled. Replace a worn ball together with a worn ball socket, otherwise the new part will wear quickly as well.
Each tractor in the Arion range has its own page with the parts intended for that model: the Claas Arion 420, Claas Arion 430, Claas Arion 530, Claas Arion 620, Claas Arion 630 and Claas Arion 640. Check the page for your exact model rather than assuming that a part from a neighbour will do. Every other Claas tractor is reached through the Claas parts overview.
