Owners of a Claas Ares 557 can pick from more than 60 parts for this Ares series model on this page, with trailer couplings among the product groups listed.
Two areas of a Claas Ares 557 take a beating over the years: the hitch at the back and the seat you sit on all day. The more than 60 new replacement parts on this page cover both. They come from Scharmüller, Walterscheid, ROCKINGER, GRANIT and GRAMMER, and they are aftermarket parts rather than dealer stock.
For the pick-up rail there are automatic and manual drawbars, and drawbar frames for when the guides in the frame have worn. Trailers with a ring eye are covered by an automatic hitch and flange hitches, and heavy trailers by the Piton Fix. Top drawbars and height adjustable adapter plates let you match the hitch height to the trailer.
You will also find support plates with a ball, a separate ball insert and a replacement ball, plus a forced steering part for steered trailers. With that set you can restore a worn pick-up, or convert the tractor from jaw to ball when new trailers arrive on the farm.
A tip on the ball hitch. A K80 ball does not wear evenly, it wears on the top and front where the trailer socket bears on it. If the trailer knocks when you pull away, measure the ball in several directions. Replace a flattened ball before it ruins the new socket on the trailer, and keep it greased.
If the small compressor in an air seat keeps cutting in while you sit still, the air spring or one of its lines is leaking. Turn the engine off and listen for the hiss. A leaking air spring needs replacing, a loose line just needs a new clip. If the seat only sinks slowly over a few hours, check the height adjustment valve too.
The Ares series includes many models that look alike, so check the serial plate before ordering. For hitch parts, measure the rail width and the pin diameter. For a seat, look at the mounting under the seat pan and the type label. If the old part has a reference number, compare it with the product description.
Several other Ares models have their own page: the Claas Ares 556, Claas Ares 567, Claas Ares 577, Claas Ares 657, Claas Ares 696 and Claas Ares 697. That helps when more than one Ares works on the farm. Everything else from the brand starts at Claas parts.
