Restoring or maintaining a Massey Ferguson 148 from the 100 series? Choose from more than 350 matching parts, including classic parts, lighting and electrics.
The MF 148 is still a daily tractor on many farms, feeding stock or topping grass. This page lists more than 350 parts that fit it, from GRANIT, Eaton, LUK, VICTOR REINZ and Perkins.
Heat and vibration take a toll on the exhaust, so there is an exhaust manifold and a vertical silencer. When you fit the manifold, always use a new gasket and tighten the nuts in several passes, working from the centre outwards. That pulls the manifold down evenly and stops it cracking or blowing the first time it gets hot.
Around the engine you will find gaskets such as the one for the water pump, a cooling fan and V-belts. The fuel side is covered by a feed pump, repair kits and a filter glass for the fuel filter. If the engine turns over slowly on cold mornings, there is a starter motor for the 148.
Oil weeping around the lift arms usually points to the lift arm shaft seal. Seals and sealing rings, including those for the half shaft, are on this page. For the front axle there are bushes, ball joints and track rod ends. If the steering knocks on rough tracks, check the track rod ends first. A cracked headlamp can often be saved with a new headlight insert instead of a complete unit.
Check the serial plate to confirm it is an MF 148. Many parts on an older Massey carry a stamped reference number, the starter and the water pump for example. Compare that number with the details on the product page. For seals, measure the shaft and the housing bore.
Before blaming the starter, check the battery and the earth strap. A loose or corroded earth connection produces exactly the same slow cranking as a worn starter. Clean the terminals, tighten the clamps and watch the battery voltage while cranking. While you are at the front, inspect the cooling fan, since a cracked blade can let go at high revs and damage the radiator.
