Restoring a Massey Ferguson 175 from the 100 series? More than 300 parts for this model are gathered here, oldtimer parts, lighting and electrics among them.
Few people part with a Massey Ferguson 175. It gets repaired, restored and put back to work. To help with that, this page lists more than 300 replacement parts that fit the 175, from GRANIT, Eaton, FEBI, LUK, KS and other makers.
Wear at the front shows up as a tractor that wanders on the road. For the front axle there are stub axles, stub axle bushes, wheel bearings and sealing rings. When you replace a wheel bearing, always fit a new seal, pack the bearing well with grease and set the preload so the wheel turns freely without noticeable play. A bearing adjusted too tight runs hot and will soon need replacing again.
For the cooling system there are radiator hoses and gaskets, for example for the thermostat and the water pump. A hose that looks fine on the outside can be soft and cracked inside. Squeeze it with the engine cold, and if it feels spongy, replace it. On the exhaust side there are exhaust manifolds and vertical silencers.
A new exhaust manifold deserves new gaskets and preferably new nuts. Old manifold nuts are often seized, so soak them in penetrating oil the day before and use a good socket to avoid snapping studs. Tighten from the centre outwards and recheck the nuts after the first few hours at working temperature.
You will also find seals for the lift arm shaft and the feed pump, O-rings such as the one for the fuel filter glass, and brake discs. For the lights there are light housings, headlight inserts, side plates and housings.
Brake discs should always be replaced on both sides so the tractor pulls up straight. Look for oil on the old discs too: an oily brake grips poorly, and the real cause is then a leaking seal.
Start with the type plate to confirm you have a 175. A tractor with a long history may have had its front end changed at some point, so the old part is your best source. Look for its reference number, and with stub axles and wheel bearings check whether the tractor has a standard or a reinforced front axle. For headlights and stub axles, note the side.
