Electrics, lighting, and brake and transmission components stand out among more than 400 parts for the Massey Ferguson 390 from the 300 Series on this page.
The MF 390 is still a working tractor on many farms, and with a machine that has done this many hours the repairs tend to come back to the same places. This page carries more than 400 Massey Ferguson 390 parts, from small sealing rings to clutch plates.
If the linkage slowly sinks with an implement on, the lift cylinder seals are usually the first suspect. For the 390 there are lift cylinder sealing rings, lift shaft seals, gear wheels for the linkage and repair kits. Yokes for the three point linkage, ball joints, shafts and thrust washers are also on this page. When you reseal the lift cylinder, inspect the bore carefully. Score marks or rust pitting will cut new seals straight away and you will be doing the job twice.
For the driveline there are clutch plates, including LUK. With the clutch apart, renew the release bearing and check the flywheel face for hot spots, scoring and fine cracks. A new plate on a glazed flywheel will not last. Make sure the plate slides freely on the input shaft splines, with just a trace of grease. On the engine side you will find alternators, starter motors, V-belts and gaskets, such as the exhaust gasket. Other brands here include GRANIT, Eaton, Cobo and MAHLE.
Do not overlook the V-belt. A slipping belt undercharges the battery and slows the water pump, and you often only notice when the battery is flat or the temperature gauge climbs. Shiny flanks or cracks on the inside mean it is time for a new one. Retension a new belt after the first day of work, because it stretches a little as it beds in.
Inside the cab, what wears is what you move every day. There are door gas struts, so the door stays open again, and Compacto seat cushions. Fit a gas strut with the rod pointing down, which keeps the seal inside the body lubricated and makes it last longer.
The rating plate tells you if you have a 390 or a 390T, which is a separate model with its own page. Older Massey Ferguson parts often carry a reference number on the part itself or in the description, which makes comparing easy. These tractors from the same 300 series have their own pages:
Every other model is listed on the main Massey Ferguson parts page.
