For the powershift transmission you will find internal and external clutch plates, together with powershift O-rings. Sealing rings, seals and gaskets cover many other points, including the water pump and the rear window lock.
When rebuilding a clutch pack, replace all the internal and external plates at once. Soak the new plates in clean transmission oil for a while before fitting so the friction material is fully saturated. A plate fitted dry can burn on the very first shift. Renew the piston O-rings at the same time, because once disturbed they rarely seal properly again.
Small cab faults are easy to put off, yet a broken mirror or a switch that no longer works can make a long day harder. Mirrors, rocker switches and gas struts are quick jobs with basic hand tools, so they are worth sorting out before the busy season starts.
For the charging system there are alternators. If yours stops charging, check the earth cable and belt tension first, because a slipping belt charges as badly as a failed alternator. Measure the voltage at the battery with the engine running. If it does not rise as you open the throttle, the alternator or its regulator really is at fault. At the rear, drawbars from Scharmüller and others are available. Keep the guide in the frame clean and greased so the height can still be adjusted after a wet winter.
Check the serial plate to confirm you have a 5465, since the 5400 series includes many models that look much the same. Clutch plates and gaskets often carry a part number, and on an alternator it is on the housing. Compare it with the product description before you order.
