For your Massey Ferguson 5480 from the 5400 series, this page offers more than 300 parts. Electrics, trailer couplings and lighting lead the range.
More than 300 Massey Ferguson 5480 parts are on this page, from GRANIT and from brands such as Scharmüller, HELLA, DANA Spicer and Walterscheid. They range from a single rocker switch to the plates inside the driveline.
The 5480 has plenty of electrical controls, and every one of them can wear. For the 5480 there are rocker switches, for example for the work lights, contact switches for the PTO, pressure switches for the hydraulics, relays and alternators.
When a function stops working, listen for the relay as you press the switch. No click points to the switch or the supply. A click means the fault lies further along the circuit.
Internal plates, external plates and adjusting plates are here for the driveline, along with O-rings for the PTO. Always replace plates as a complete set, internal and external together. Soak new plates in the same oil the system runs on before fitting, so they do not run dry on the first engagement, and check the adjusting plates for distortion.
A lot of extra lighting on the 5480 puts more demand on the charging system. If the alternator no longer keeps up, check the output voltage and the drive belt before replacing it. A belt that slips leaves the alternator turning too slowly. With a new unit, match the flange and connections to the old one.
For flush mounted work lamps, the seal around the housing matters more than the lamp itself. Water behind the glass corrodes the contacts, so fit a new lamp with a clean, intact seal and check where the cable passes through.
On the drawbar, check the lock and pin for play at regular intervals. Play grows with every trip behind a heavy trailer, and a pin is a quicker fix than a worn rail. A loose mirror arm is worth tightening too, as vibration makes reversing harder than it needs to be.
The type plate confirms the 5480. For switches, match the connector shape and the symbol on the rocker. For clutch plates, use the reference number on the old pack.
Other models from the 5400 series have their own page listing what fits them:
