The drawbar frame carries the rail that the drawbar or ball slides into, with Scharmüller and Walterscheid as the familiar systems. For trailers with air brakes there are coupling heads for the supply and brake lines. Clean the heads regularly and inspect the rubber seal inside each one before the season starts. A leaking head keeps the compressor topping up and weakens the trailer brakes. Pitons and adapter plates finish off the hitch set-up.
The fenders on the 5710 sit on pivots with a spring, and both come for the left and right side. A fender that rattles or no longer springs back almost always points to one of the two. For the cooling circuit there are thermostats and temperature sensors, and for the air conditioning there are compressors. A word on thermostats: fit the new one the same way round as the old one, then bleed the cooling system properly. An air pocket around the temperature sensor will otherwise give a false reading on the dash.
With the aircon compressor, check the belt as well. A glazed or cracked belt slips on the pulley and makes it seem as though the compressor has stopped cooling. The tank cap deserves a look too. A cap with a damaged seal lets moisture and dirt into the tank, and you only notice once the filters start to clog. The axial joint in the steering is easiest to check with the front axle raised. Grip the wheel front and back and rock it, and if you feel a knock, the joint is due. Mount the beacon at the highest point of the cab so it can be seen from every side.
The type plate tells you it is a 5710. With fender parts, check which side you need, and with a thermostat or sensor compare the number on the old unit with the reference number given for the product.
