For the Massey Ferguson 6290 in the 6200 series we list more than 450 parts, among them electrics, trailer couplings and steering and front axle components.
A rear window that drops on your head or will not latch is a nuisance on any tractor, and the Massey Ferguson 6290 is no exception. For this model there are gas struts for the rear window and sealing rings for the rear window lock, as well as more than 450 other parts that fit the 6290.
Prop the window open securely before you unclip the old strut, as it will fall once the support is gone. Fit the new strut with the rod facing down if the mounting allows, which keeps its internal seal lubricated. Do not grip the polished rod with pliers, as even a small scratch will make it leak. If the window still feels heavy, check the hinges and the lock seal for wear.
Besides GRANIT, the brands include DANA Spicer and Cobo.
Check the type plate for the model and serial number before ordering. For seals, switches and plates, the reference number on the old part is the safest guide. Compare it with the number given for the product. For a starter motor, count the teeth on the pinion and note the direction of rotation.
If the linkage rattles over every bump, the bushes for the lower link strut are a likely cause. Check the pin that runs in the bush too, because a worn pin will turn a new bush oval in no time. Press the old bush out with a suitable drift, clean the bore and press the new one in straight. Grease it through the nipple afterwards and keep doing so at every service. A linkage that sits tight again also keeps mounted implements running straight behind the tractor.
Each model in this series has a page of its own, so you can check every tractor in the yard separately: the Massey Ferguson 6245, Massey Ferguson 6255, Massey Ferguson 6260, Massey Ferguson 6265, Massey Ferguson 6270 and Massey Ferguson 6280. For every model from the brand, see Massey Ferguson parts.
