We list more than 400 parts for the Massey Ferguson 6495 from the 6400 series. Electrics, trailer couplings and lighting are clearly grouped together.
A warning light that stays on, a rev counter that drops out or four-wheel drive that will not engage: on a Massey Ferguson 6495, the cause is often a small electrical part. More than 400 parts are listed for the 6495, and the electrics make up an important part of them.
There are sensors such as the engine speed sensor, relays, rocker switches including the orange one for four-wheel drive, push button switches and alternators.
If the engine speed reading disappears, clean the tip of the speed sensor first. Metal particles tend to build up there and disturb the signal. Check the connector for green corrosion or loose pins too. Only when that does not help is a new sensor needed.
For the PTO clutch you will find internal and external plates. Seals, sealing rings and O-rings deal with leaks, for example the O-ring for the oil filler cap or the seal for the tank sensor. In the cab there are HELLA work lamps, Massey Ferguson mirrors and gas struts. For towing, automatic drawbars and adapter plates come from Scharmüller, ROCKINGER and Walterscheid.
When a circuit cuts out now and then, swap the relay with an identical one from the same box. If the fault moves, you have found it. When replacing a relay, check the pin layout and whether it is a make contact or changeover type.
The alternator on a 6495 has plenty to power with work lamps and electronics. If the battery is not charging, measure the charging voltage with the engine running and check the belt and earth cable before changing the alternator.
An automatic drawbar only works reliably when the guide rail and pin are clean and greased. Clear out dirt and old grease regularly, apply fresh grease and check that the lock engages fully after coupling. A pin that sticks is a real risk on the road.
Read the type plate to confirm the 6495. A sensor or relay almost always has a number on the housing, so compare that and the connector shape with the details of the item.
These tractors from the same series have a page of their own:
The 6490 and 6445 are part of the 6400 series as well. Every series of the make is listed under Massey Ferguson onderdelen.
