Our range for the Massey Ferguson 6499 from the 6400 series runs to more than 300 parts. Electrics, trailer couplings and lighting are just some examples.
When the four-wheel drive switch stops working, or the PTO ignores the button on the fender, a Massey Ferguson 6499 is stuck because of a small part. More than 300 replacement parts fit this tractor, from GRANIT, Scharmüller, ROCKINGER, Walterscheid and HELLA.
There are rocker switches, including one for the four-wheel drive, and push button switches for the PTO, such as the yellow button for the external control on the fender. Handles are part of the selection too.
Before you replace a switch, take a photo of the plug and look closely at the contacts. Green deposits or burnt pins mean the plug needs attention as well, or the new switch will fail just as quickly.
For the transmission of the 6499 there are internal plates and O-rings for the powershift, together with sealing rings and seals. A speed sensor makes sure the speedometer and electronics get the right reading. Clean the tip thoroughly when you swap the sensor, because metal particles on the magnet produce an erratic signal.
If the powershift slips or shifts harshly, have the oil pressure and filter checked before you start on the plates. Soak new internal plates in clean transmission oil for a while before fitting, so the friction lining is fully saturated.
Alternators and tensioning pulleys keep the charge rate steady. A tensioner that hums or whose arm no longer springs back lets the belt slip. Spin the pulley by hand while the belt is off. If the bearing feels rough or has play, replace the tensioner at the same time.
At the rear there are automatic drawbars and height adjustable adapter plates. Work lamps cover jobs after dark, and the cab is served by rear window gas struts and mirrors. Always replace both rear window gas struts together, as a new one next to a worn one pulls the window crooked. Check how the handles are fixed as well: a loose grab handle at the steps is a fall waiting to happen.
The type plate tells you exactly which type and serial number you have. The reference number on the old part then settles the choice. These models from the 6400 series have their own page as well:
The 6490 and the 6445 belong to the series too. Check fitment for each model, and for other ranges see Massey Ferguson parts.
