Engine parts, electrics and lighting form the core of more than 400 items for the Massey Ferguson 7480, useful when you maintain a tractor from the 7400 Series.
Repairs rarely start with a part number. They start with a problem. The temperature gauge creeps up, the charge light stays on, the rear window will not stay open. So the notes for the Massey Ferguson 7480 follow what you notice on the tractor. All told, more than 400 Massey Ferguson 7480 parts are listed here, from GRANIT and from makers such as HELLA, MAHLE, GRAMMER and Scharmüller.
Start with the thermostat and the V-belt that drives the water pump. Both are on this page, along with gaskets, for example for the turbocharger oil feed line. A workshop tip: test a doubtful thermostat in a pan of water that you heat slowly. If it fails to open, or only opens halfway, you have found the fault. Always renew the seal when fitting a new thermostat, and bleed the cooling system properly after refilling. An air lock around the thermostat gives the same symptoms as a faulty unit.
For the charging circuit there are alternators and relays. Check the belt and the cable connections before you replace the alternator. A loose earth or a corroded terminal often causes exactly the same trouble.
A rear window that drops shut needs new gas struts. If it leaks at the catch, there is a sealing ring for the rear window lock. For all round vision there are mirrors and work lamps, including spot beams. Rocker switches such as the four-wheel drive switch, push button switches and GRAMMER tractor seats belong in this group too.
Play in the steering usually comes from worn ball joints, which you will also find here. When you change one, look closely at the dust boot on the joint next to it. A split boot lets in water and grit, and that joint will soon be next. For the rear there are drawbars.
The 7480 belongs to the Massey Ferguson 7400 series. Read the model and serial number off the tractor's type plate first. The old part often carries a reference number, and a thermostat also has its opening temperature marked on the flange. Check that against the product description. For a tank sensor seal, compare the shape and hole layout with the old one too.
