Electrics top the list for the Massey Ferguson 8120, followed by lighting and trailer couplings. In total this page shows more than 300 parts that fit.
Long days in the seat of an 8120 show up first in the cab: a worn seat, a rear window that will not stay open, a switch that no longer clicks. This page lists more than 300 parts that fit the Massey Ferguson 8120, with plenty for the cab and controls alongside PTO clutch plates, alternators and seals for the engine and fuel system.
For the driver there are tractor seats, including air suspended models from GRAMMER. The rear window is covered by gas struts and a sealing ring for its lock. On the dashboard and side console you will find rocker switches for the work lights and push button switches such as the hazard warning switch. Mirrors and LED work lamps from HELLA and others take care of visibility.
When a rear window gas strut gives up, replace the pair at the same time. Fit the strut rod end downwards so the seal stays lubricated, which helps it last.
New friction plates for a wet PTO clutch should soak in the same oil that goes into the system before they are fitted. Plates installed dry can be damaged the first time the clutch engages. Replace inner and outer plates as a set and note the stacking order as you strip the pack, so it goes back together the same way.
If the alternator seems to have stopped charging, measure the voltage across the battery terminals with the engine running. If it stays at the resting value, the alternator is not doing its job. Check the heavy charging cable and the plug on the back as well, because a loose or oxidised connection looks exactly the same. Whenever the tank sensor comes out, fit a new seal. An old one hardens and seldom seals properly a second time, and the result is a smell of diesel in the cab. Rocker switches with an indicator light also show at a glance whether the rear work lights are on.
The 8120 is part of the 8100 series from Massey Ferguson. Check the type plate to confirm the model. For clutch plates, sealing rings and O-rings, the reference number on the old part is your safest guide. With switches, match the symbol on the button so the new one takes over the same job.
