Every part on this page fits the Massey Ferguson 8220 from the 8200 series. Choose from more than 350 items such as electrics, lighting and trailer couplings.
Many workshop hours on a Massey Ferguson 8220 go into the PTO, the electrics and the cab. For this tractor there are more than 350 parts here, from GRANIT, Scharmüller, Cobo, HELLA and GRAMMER.
If the 8220 is slow to crank or the battery never seems full, a replacement alternator or starter motor is often the answer. Alongside them you will find sensors, ignition contact switches, rocker switches and push buttons for the dashboard. When you fit a new alternator, check the drive belt and the charging cable at the same time. A slack belt or a corroded cable lug will hold back even a brand new unit. A sensor giving odd readings is not always faulty itself. Check the plug first, as green corrosion on the pins causes exactly the same symptoms.
The PTO clutch is served by external and internal plates, and the powershift by O-rings that are also listed for Landini. A PTO that slips under heavy load, behind a mower or a rotary tiller for example, usually points to worn plates. Always renew the pack as a whole, inner and outer plates together, and let the new plates soak briefly in clean transmission oil before fitting. That way the clutch does not bite dry on first start. Note the order of the inner and outer plates as you take the old pack apart.
Around the engine there are seals, sealing rings and a gasket for the exhaust and inlet manifold. Tighten manifold nuts in a cross pattern, working from the centre outwards, so the gasket seats evenly.
In the cab there are tractor seats, from GRAMMER among others, and sealing rings for the rear window catch. Work lamps, such as a square recessed floodlight, make late jobs safer. At the rear you will find drawbars from Scharmüller and GRANIT. Grease the pin and guide of the drawbar a few times a season to keep the locking action smooth.
Check the type plate to confirm you have an 8220 and not another model from the 8200 series. When in doubt about a sensor or clutch plate, look for the number on the part you removed. If it matches the reference number shown with the product, you have the right one.
From the same 8200 series, the Massey Ferguson 8240 and the Massey Ferguson 8250 each have their own page. If you run one of those, order from there, as each list is put together for one machine. Other models are under Massey Ferguson parts.
