Steering and front axle work on a Steyr 6170 CVT? Pick from more than 400 parts for the CVT series, among them trailer couplings and electrics.
Much of the daily wear on a Steyr 6170 CVT happens in small things: the fender switch for the linkage, the front PTO button, the gas struts that hold the hood up. This page brings together more than 400 replacement parts for this tractor, from GRANIT, Scharmüller, Sauermann, GRAMMER and HELLA.
For outside control of the linkage there are rocker switches for lift and lower on the fender. Push button switches include the front PTO switch with connecting cable and plug. Alternators come in several versions, and gas struts are available for the hood, doors and windows.
A long list of O-rings, sealing rings and seals fits the 6170 CVT, among them the thermostat O-ring and the seal for the turbocharger oil return line. Water pump gaskets are here too.
A leaking turbo oil return shows up as oil on the underside of the turbo housing and around the connection at the block. Renew both seals at the same time and make sure the line sits without tension when you tighten it.
If there is play in the steering or a knock when turning in, check the ball joints. Grip the track rod and rock it while someone turns the wheel briefly left and right. Any play you can feel at the joint means it is due for replacement. Use a new locking nut when fitting and have the toe-in checked afterwards.
The automatic hitch and the hitch pins wear with daily use too. A clevis that no longer locks by itself often has a worn pin or a weak spring. Clean the mechanism and lubricate it lightly. If the lock still does not engage properly, replace the pin or the hitch, because a trailer coming loose is not a risk worth taking.
The type plate shows model and serial number, and many parts, from alternators to ball joints, carry a reference number you can hold against the part on this page.
Within the Steyr CVT series the 6170 CVT has several siblings, each with a page of its own:
The 6185 CVT, the 6230 CVT and the rest of the Steyr line-up are reached through Steyr parts.
