The system you need depends on what is behind the tractor. An automatic hitch catches the drawbar eye and locks itself, which helps when you swap trailers often. Give a ball hitch a light coat of grease to reduce wear on ball and socket, and check while you are at it that the ball is still round. A ball with a flat side lets the drawbar knock. Keep the frame rail clean and greased so the adapter plate stays easy to move. Measure the rail width and pin diameter on the tractor itself before ordering, because the reference number on old hitch parts has often worn away. If you can still read it, use it together with the model on the type plate to choose the matching part.
One tip for Piton Fix: check the locking pin every time you change trailers. A pin that does not drop fully into its lock can work loose on the road.
