Looking for the right part for your Massey Ferguson 5608? This page shows more than 160 items, including trailer couplings, electrics and lighting.
A knob spinning on its shaft, a push button that has stopped working, a gas strut that no longer holds the rear window: on a Massey Ferguson 5608 it is often the small things that get in the way. This page holds more than 160 parts for the 5608 from GRANIT, Scharmüller, Walterscheid, HELLA and ROCKINGER.
For the cab there are knobs, push button switches, handles and gas struts. The electrical system has relays you can swap individually, and for lighting there are work lamps, including flood beams.
Where gas struts are fitted in pairs, replace both at the same time and mount them rod end down. That keeps the internal seal bathed in oil and makes the strut last longer.
A relay that has stopped switching often gives itself away by the missing click. If in doubt, swap it with an identical relay from another circuit. When the problem follows the relay to its new socket, the relay is to blame.
The 5608 has internal and external plates listed for its wet clutch. When rebuilding a plate pack, soak the new friction plates in the correct oil for a while beforehand so they do not run dry on the first engagement. Replace internal and external plates together where possible and check the steel plates for discolouration or warping.
You will also find seals, sealing rings and O-rings, for instance for a door handle or a water line, along with thermostats and temperature sensors for the cooling system.
Not sure whether the thermostat still works? Hang it in a pan of water and heat it slowly. A healthy thermostat opens visibly once the water gets hot.
Ball drawbars and drawbar frames cover the hitch. Check the rail width of the frame that is already on the tractor before choosing a drawbar. If the frame itself is bent or its guides are worn, replace the whole drawbar frame rather than just the drawbar.
The 5608 belongs to the 5600 series, whose models are easy to mix up, so read the data plate carefully. For clutch plates, the inner and outer diameter and the number on the old plate help, for switches and relays the number on the housing.
These tractors from the same series have their own pages:
