Faulty electrics, failed lighting or a worn trailer coupling? For the Massey Ferguson 6140 from the 6100 series you will find more than 350 parts on this page.
Inside the cab is where you spend the day, so that is where this page starts. More than 350 parts fit the Massey Ferguson 6140, and several of them are about making the operator's seat a better place to be.
There are rocker switches and multifunction switches, including Cobo items, GRAMMER tractor seats and gas struts for the door and rear window. Work lamps, among them HELLA, sealing rings for the rear window catch and seals for the fuel sensors are listed too. Before unplugging a switch, count the terminals and take a photo of the plug, so the new one goes in exactly the same way.
If the 6140 is slow to crank on a cold morning or the charge light stays on, the fault is usually somewhere in the starting or charging circuit. Starter motors, alternators and the V-belts that drive the alternator are all here.
Before you replace an alternator, look at the belt. A belt with glazed sides or too little tension slips on the pulley, and then even a healthy alternator undercharges. Press it midway between two pulleys, and if it gives much more than a thumb's width, tension or renew it. Check the earth cable as well, since a loose or corroded connection produces exactly the same symptoms. A quick test with a multimeter across the battery with the engine running tells you straight away whether the alternator is charging at all.
On a 6140 that has done a lot of loader or heavy implement work, the lift arms are worth a look. They run in bushes that wear oval after many hours, which makes the linkage rattle or sit crooked. New lift arm bushes are listed, along with PTO O-rings and both internal and external clutch plates. At the back, an automatic drawbar, with ROCKINGER among the brands, takes care of hitching up.
Confirm on the plate that you really have a 6140, as the tractors in the 6100 series look very much alike from the outside. If you still have the old part, find its reference number. Neighbouring models each have their own page:
The Massey Ferguson 6110 belongs to the same series. You will find it, and every other model from the brand, under Massey Ferguson parts.
