Servicing a Steyr 6220 CVT? Choose from more than 90 matching parts here, such as trailer couplings, electrics, and steering and front axle components.
On a 6220 CVT that spends its days pulling heavy trailers, the hitch takes the punishment. Play in the rail, a worn pin or an automatic hitch that no longer latches cleanly are the usual reasons to replace something at the back. That is why the coupling hardware comes first here: drawbars, top drawbars, drawbar frames, adapter plates, base plates, automatic hitches and a Piton Fix, with Scharmüller and GRANIT among the makers.
Two dimensions decide whether a new drawbar slides into the frame without grinding: the width of the rail and the diameter of the locking pin. Take both from your own Steyr before choosing a part. A height adjustable adapter plate lets you move the coupling point up or down to suit a particular trailer, or fit a different hitch type onto the same frame. Once it is mounted, check that the locking lever drops fully into its end position, first with no trailer attached and then again under load.
All told there are more than 90 parts for this tractor. Beyond the hitch you will find NOX sensors, temperature sensors, radiator hoses, air hoses, tank caps and cylinder head bolts, from brands such as Wabco, Vitesco and MAHLE. When a NOX sensor throws a fault code, swap it with the exhaust cold. Unplug the connector before you unscrew the sensor so the lead does not twist, then route the new lead exactly where the old one ran, clear of hot surfaces. With a radiator hose, replace any corroded or distorted clamps at the same time.
Fender brackets and their springs are here too. A bracket that has worked loose often announces itself as a tapping noise in the cab, and a tired spring lets the fender move when the steering is on full lock.
The type plate confirms you are dealing with a 6220 CVT. For sensors and hoses, the number stamped or printed on the old part is the quickest route, so compare it with the reference number listed with each product on this page. For hitch components, the dimensions of what is fitted now usually tell you more than any number.
The 6220 belongs to the Steyr CVT line, and each model in that line has its own page. If the yard holds more than one of them, order through the page for each machine: Steyr 6240 CVT, Steyr 6165 CVT, Steyr 6150 CVT, Steyr 6195 CVT, Steyr 6175 CVT and Steyr 6145 CVT. For older Steyr tractors and the remaining ranges, head to Steyr parts and pick the right model there.
