More than 400 parts fit the Massey Ferguson 6485 from the 6400 series. Electrics, trailer couplings and lighting are easy to find on this page.
When the PTO slips under heavy load, or takes its time to pick up speed after you engage it, the cause on a 6485 is often found in the plates of the PTO clutch. That is a job where you want every part on the bench before you start. This page lists more than 400 replacement parts for this Massey Ferguson, from GRANIT, Scharmüller, HELLA, ROCKINGER, Walterscheid and others.
For the PTO clutch there are internal and external plates, along with sealing rings, seals and O-rings, including ones for the powershift and the oil filler cap. Always replace inner and outer plates as a set. Soak the new friction plates in clean transmission oil for a while before fitting, so they are saturated when they take load for the first time. Look closely at the steel plates you take out. If they are blued or no longer flat, they have run too hot and should not go back in. Any ring you disturb while the housing is open gets replaced at the same time.
The electrical side covers alternators, relays, sensors such as the engine speed sensor, and a whole set of switches. Think of rocker switches, for example the four wheel drive switch with its orange rocker, and push button switches. If a function suddenly stops working, swap its relay with an identical one from another slot in the fuse box. If the function comes back, you know what has failed without reaching for a meter. If the alternator stops charging, look at the earth strap and the main charging cable first, as corrosion on a terminal gives exactly the same symptoms. For light around the tractor there are HELLA work lamps, both spotlights and flush mounted versions.
In and around the cab you will find mirrors, gas struts and sealing rings for the rear window catch. Replace a strut that no longer holds the window only while the glass is propped up, never while it rests on the strut alone. At the back there are automatic hitches from ROCKINGER and adapter plates.
Massey Ferguson places the 6485 in its 6400 series. The rating plate with its serial number shows which version you have, and old parts often carry a reference number you can compare with the product details. Every other model in the series has its own page: Massey Ferguson 6455, Massey Ferguson 6460, Massey Ferguson 6465, Massey Ferguson 6470, Massey Ferguson 6475 and Massey Ferguson 6480. That way you can see for each tractor separately what fits. For the rest of the brand, head to Massey Ferguson parts.
