For the John Deere 6190R in the 6R Series, this page lists more than 250 matching parts, including trailer couplings, lighting and electrics for this tractor.
A 6190R spends long days pulling something, so a good share of the John Deere 6190R parts on this page are about the rear end of the tractor. You will find drawbar frames, drawbar balls and forced steering components that keep a steered trailer tracking behind the tractor. For the air brake connection there are separate connector heads, the part that takes a beating every time you hitch up or drop a trailer.
The other half is electrical. There are LED work lights, alternators for when charging voltage starts to drop, micro relays and several sensors, including a fuel pressure sensor and a coolant temperature sensor. Pressure switches and oil pressure switches sit alongside them. For the PTO clutch you can get internal plates, and there are O-rings for the fuel line and support plates as well. Altogether more than 250 items fit this tractor. If charging looks weak, check the earth strap and battery terminals before condemning the alternator, since a corroded connection gives exactly the same symptoms.
Start with the rating plate and make sure it actually says 6190R. Within the 6R series the tractors look much the same from the outside, but parts are matched per model. If the old part is already off, look for a reference number stamped into it or printed on a label and compare it with the item description. With a drawbar frame or ball you also need to check rail width and pin diameter, because both have to suit the hitch rails already fitted to the rear axle.
Parts come from GRANIT, Sauermann, Scharmüller, ROCKINGER and Walterscheid. The first three trailer hitch makers will be familiar from yard work, and Walterscheid is a name any mechanic knows from PTO shafts.
A leaking connector head bleeds brake pressure from the trailer, and you usually find out at the worst moment. The coupling heads are colour-coded: the yellow one carries the brake signal, while the red one feeds the trailer with air. Check that the rubber seal inside each head is still flexible and undamaged and that the flap closes properly. Replace a cracked seal straight away, and swap a head that no longer locks positively. Keep the dust caps shut when nothing is coupled so grit cannot build up inside.
