Also known as the IHC 585 XL, the Case IH 585 XL has more than 200 parts here, including classic tractor spares, lighting, steering and front axle items.
Plenty of farmers still call it the IHC 585 XL, and here you will find it under Case IH. It is the same tractor either way, and this page holds more than 200 new parts for it. They come from GRANIT and from makers such as VICTOR REINZ, LUK, HELLA and ZF.
Engine parts include gaskets, among them a thermostat gasket, an upper cylinder head gasket set with valve stem seals, O-rings for the feed pump, sealing rings and a crankshaft seal. In the cooling system you will find radiator hoses, including the bypass hose that is easy to overlook during an overhaul.
When replacing radiator hoses, use new hose clips and position them just behind the raised bead on the pipe rather than right at the edge. Nip them up again after the first warm working day, since rubber settles once it heats up. With a new head gasket, clean both faces thoroughly and tighten the head bolts in the specified sequence and in stages.
For the clutch there is the clutch plate, with LUK among the makers. For the three-point linkage there are lifting spindles, the adjustable links between lift arm and lower link. Set both sides to the same length when an implement needs to hang level, and grease the thread so it can still be adjusted next season. Steering is covered with ball joints.
Taking the 585 XL on the road means the indicators have to work. There are separate lenses for the indicator and position light, reflectors and a flasher unit. If everything suddenly flashes twice as fast, check for a blown bulb before blaming the flasher unit. You will also find relays, rocker switches and gas struts for the door.
The 585 XL belongs to the 85 series. Look up the exact model and serial number on the type plate. On an older tractor the old part is often the best source of information. Gaskets sometimes carry a maker's number, and on a clutch plate the spline count and diameter are what matter. Take those details with you when comparing against the product description.
