Working with a Case IH CVX 1170? You will find more than 350 parts for this model here, covering steering and front axle, lighting and trailer couplings.
A CVX 1170 spends much of its working life pulling heavy trailers and implements, so this page starts at the back of the tractor. It holds more than 350 replacement parts for the Case IH CVX 1170 from makers such as Scharmüller, ROCKINGER, GRANIT, HELLA and Carraro.
For the hitch rail there are drawbars, a Piton Fix for low hitching and adapter plates that let you mount a different coupling system on the existing rail. Pins and catch hooks wear oval over time. Check the play whenever the tractor is in the yard, because a worn pin sends a jolt through the whole driveline every time you pull away or brake with a loaded trailer.
Steering ball joints are part of the same picture. A joint with play shows up as vague steering and knocking over rough ground.
Around the engine you will find water pump gaskets, sealing rings, O-rings such as the one on the oil filler cap, other seals and an alternator. Bushes for the lower link shaft keep the three-point linkage tight. Gas struts for the bonnet or rear window lose force gradually. Where two struts are fitted, replace both, otherwise the panel twists and the new strut ends up carrying the whole load.
In the cab there are rocker switches, including one for the front work lamps, push button switches and a tractor seat. Work lamps come as square spotlights for flush mounting.
A practical point on the alternator: when the charge warning light comes on, check the belt, the battery terminals and the earth strap between engine and frame first. Only when those are in order and the charging voltage is still low is the alternator itself to blame. Disconnect the battery before fitting a new unit.
Confirm on the type plate that the tractor really is a CVX 1170 and compare the reference number on the old part with the new one. With seals and O-rings the fitting position matters as much as the number, so note where the old part came from before throwing it away.
The CVX series includes further types, each with a page of its own. Useful for contractors and farms running several CVX tractors:
