Whether you call it the IHC 824 or the Case IH 824, this classic has more than 350 matching parts here, including vintage parts and lighting.
Many of these tractors still wear IHC badges on the bonnet, and the IHC 824 is listed here as the Case IH 824. It is the same machine. If yours is still working for a living or sitting in the shed halfway through a restoration, this page shows more than 350 parts that fit it.
For a rebuild there is a cylinder head gasket set, gaskets including one for the camshaft, fuel pump seals, a rear crankshaft seal, a water pump and radiator hoses. Fuel system O-rings and fuel filters are here too, so the engine starts its second life on clean diesel. While the water pump is off, renew the radiator hoses too. Old hoses go soft or crack from the inside long before they look bad.
When you refit the head, tighten the bolts in the order the workshop manual gives, working in stages rather than taking each bolt to full torque at once. Many older diesels also want the bolts checked again once the engine has been run warm, so keep the torque wrench handy.
A clutch that slips or no longer frees properly needs a new clutch plate, and nearly always a new thrust bearing too. Both are listed, with LUK among the brands. Change the bearing even if the old one still sounds quiet, because the tractor is already split and a bearing that starts whining a year later means doing the whole job again. For the brakes there are sealing rings for the brake housing, which keep oil away from the linings.
Play in the steering on an older tractor often comes from worn ball joints, and those are here as well. Headlights, indicator and position lamps and a flasher unit, partly from HELLA, make the 824 road safe again.
On a tractor of this age, something has often been swapped along the way. Check the plate, but also look at the old part itself. If it carries a reference number, compare that with the description of the new one. With gaskets and seals it pays to measure the old item before ordering.
The 824 has relatives that often turn up in the same yard, and each one has its own page: Case IH 553, Case IH 624, Case IH 654, Case IH 845 and Case IH 845 XL. Every other type from the brand is listed under Case IH parts.
