Many an MXU 135 has been modified over the years. A different hitch, a replaced seat, an extra work light on the cab. So before choosing a replacement, look at what is actually on your tractor today. The rating plate and serial number tell you which machine you have, and old parts often still carry a reference number you can match against the product details. For the transmission there are synchro units, a torsion damper, O-rings and sealing rings. The torsion damper sits between engine and gearbox and smooths out the pulses from the crankshaft. A clattering noise from the clutch housing at idle is a reason to put it on the list. If the gearbox is open anyway for a synchro unit, renew every O-ring and seal you disturb along the way. A ring that has been removed rarely seats properly again and tends to weep later on. Fit new rings lightly oiled so they do not drag dry over an edge when you slide the parts together. The PTO speed sensor, complete with cable and plug, belongs in this group as well.
At the rear you will find automatic hitches from ROCKINGER, drawbars, the Piton Fix system and height adjustable adapter plates. With those you can switch between coupling types without rebuilding the whole frame. Rocker switches for raising and lowering the rear linkage are here too. Mount a gas strut with the rod pointing down, so the seal inside stays bathed in oil and the strut lasts longer. On a door or bonnet, replace struts as a pair so both carry the same load.
Ball joints for the steering complete the picture. A worn joint makes the tractor wander on the road and wears the front tyres unevenly.
