A clutch that only bites at the very top of the pedal, a burning smell after a headland turn, a release bearing that whines when you push the pedal down. Those are the signs that a JXU 85 needs clutch work. This page lists more than 200 Case IH JXU 85 parts. The clutch comes first here, followed by the rest of the tractor.
LUK is among the makes represented here.
At the rear there are drawbars and Piton Fix. On the electrical side you will find alternators and sensors, and for the engine a thermostat gasket. The cab is covered with a gas strut for the roof hatch, seals for the front and rear screen hinges, rear lights, unheated mirrors and seats such as the Compacto, with GRAMMER among the brands.
The type plate gives you the type and serial number of your JXU 85, which is the place to start. For a clutch job, measure the old plate and count the hub splines before you order. Pressure plates and clutch plates usually have a manufacturer number stamped on them, and that reference number is a reliable thing to check against.
After fitting a new clutch cable, reset the pedal play as set out in the workshop manual. A cable that is too tight keeps the release bearing pressed against the pressure plate and wears both out early. Too slack, and the clutch will not separate fully, so gears crunch as you change.
The thermostat gasket is another job worth doing right first time. Clean both faces until they are bare and flat, do not add sealant to a gasket that is meant to go on dry, and tighten the bolts in a cross pattern. Then refill and bleed the cooling system, or an air pocket will sit behind the thermostat and the temperature will climb.
