Much of what you will find here is aimed at jobs you can tackle in your own workshop. Swapping a ball joint, renewing a seal on the lift arm shaft or replacing a dashboard switch needs no special tools, just the right part for the MX 90C.
Steering wear shows up as a knock when someone rocks the wheel left and right with the tractor standing still. Put your hand on each ball joint and axial joint while that happens and you will feel which one has play. Both types are available here. After replacing either of them, reset the toe-in, otherwise the front tyres will scrub and wear unevenly.
Around the lift arm shaft there are bushes, seals and O-rings, such as a front right bush for the shaft and a piston O-ring that fits Maxxum and MX tractors. Sealing rings include one for the front of the crankshaft. When you replace a shaft seal, check the running surface on the shaft first. A groove worn into it will make even a new seal weep within weeks.
Alternators and starter motors take care of charging and starting. In the cab you will find rocker switches, for example the one for the front PTO in the dashboard, along with rotary switches and potentiometers. A worn potentiometer often shows itself as a linkage or PTO that responds in jerks.
Cab hinges, such as the upper right hinge on the cab door, and gas struts keep the door and windows where they belong. For the rear there are drawbars with a ball on a rail and flange hitches.
Start with the type plate to confirm the tractor is an MX 90C. Many old parts have a reference number stamped or printed on them, and that is the safest point of comparison.
