For the belt drive you will find single multi-rib belts and complete belt kits, including kits for tractors without air conditioning. Whether your tractor has air conditioning changes the belt routing, and so it decides which kit you need. Check that before ordering. Take a photo of how the belt runs over the pulleys and tensioner before you remove it, which saves a lot of guesswork when fitting the new one. While you are there, spin the tensioner pulley by hand. If it feels rough, replace it as well.
Electrical parts include starter motors, gear reduction starters, alternators and sensors. A gear reduction starter has a reduction gearbox inside the housing, so it looks different from a conventional starter. Compare the housing, the flange and the number of pinion teeth with the unit on your tractor. Before condemning a starter, clean the battery terminals and check the earth cable, because a corroded connection makes a starter turn slowly in just the same way. For lighting there are headlights with dipped and main beam, and work lamps including spotlights and LED lamps.
Around the engine there are O-rings for the fuel line, the air receiver gasket and other seals. A tired O-ring on a fuel line lets the system draw in air and the engine starts badly, so always fit new ones when you open a line. Inside the cab you will find seals for the door hinges and pull handles, gas struts and air suspended tractor seats. At the rear there are drawbars with a ball, and there are bushes for smaller repairs.
Use the type plate to confirm you have a 5100R. Many John Deere parts carry a reference number, which is the quickest way to make sure a new part fits. For a multi-rib belt, count the ribs. For a headlight, check the mounting and the bulb type.
