More than 550 parts fit the John Deere 1550. From lighting and electrics to trailer couplings, everything is gathered here so you can skip the long search.
More than 550 parts fit the John Deere 1550, enough to take care of a full service in one go, from the clutch to the headlights. Brands include GRANIT, HELLA, MAHLE, LUK and Wabco.
For the clutch there are clutch plates with a torsion damper and single clutch pressure plates. Replace the plate and pressure plate together where you can. The tractor has to be split either way, and a new plate running against a worn pressure plate will not last. While it is apart, inspect the flywheel too: scoring or blue heat marks should be skimmed out before the new plate goes in.
Coolant seeping from the weep hole on the water pump means the shaft seal has gone and the pump will not last much longer. Replace it as a unit and clean the gasket faces on the block thoroughly. Look over the belt and hoses at the same time, then refill with fresh coolant. Warm the engine up with the heater valve open and top up as the level drops. Headlights are available separately for left and right, so only the damaged side needs replacing.
Lift arm bushes and washers take the play out of the rear linkage. On the steering side you can replace track rods and ball joints. Connector heads cover the air brake supply to a trailer, and gas struts hold the cab door or window where they should.
When changing a track rod, measure the old one first so the toe setting stays roughly where it was, then have the alignment checked, since wrong toe wears front tyres quickly.
First confirm on the data plate that the tractor is a 1550. Some parts are made for a group of John Deere models, such as a lift housing gasket that fits from the 820 up to the 3650 and a pressure plate for the 840 up to the 2650. The product details show this. Also compare the number on the old part, especially for the clutch, where the spline count and plate diameter have to match.
The 1550 is part of the 50 series. Two other tractors from that series have pages of their own:
